What clarity should I be looking for?

The clarity of a diamond describes the extent to which it is free from naturally occurring inclusions. These can range from a barely discernable white mark at the edge of the stone to a large fissure running across the width of the diamond.

The reason that the clarity of the stone is important is because the diamond relies on the free movement of light within the stone to truly behave like a diamond. The bigger and more central the inclusions are, then the more the brilliance of the stone deteriorates.

The highest clarity grade is ’flawless’. At Green + Benz we only work with diamonds between the grades of flawless and very small inclusions, (VS).
